i keep readin comments form u guys that Brandon was the best actor ever & all..
my question is was he? im not gonna start an argument just wanna hear ur views..
1.im not sure how many movies he acted but i ddnt think it was that many
2.if he didnt die tragically would the movie have this much inpact on people's lives? and would we still be sayin he was the best?
i mean.. in short was he really? or is it us grieving his loss that has led us to regard him as the best as a tribute for him?

I wouldn't say that he is the best actor ever in the history of mankind. He was pretty damn good, but that's stretching it. I do think, however, that he is the best Crow because he essentially became the Crow (well, except for the coming back from the dead to avenge his wrongful death thing.) in that he died tragically just before he was set to marry his fiance. His life in that respect was eerily similar to Eric Draven's. Also, he died in this role, and as you pointed out, he wasn't well-known before The Crow. So for those reasons I think he was the best crow.

Brandon Lee was a great actor yes, maybe not the greatest pick for the Gods but his work as Eric D'raven would have started a wild fire for him. When i was 7 i frist say The Crow and fell in love with the movie at this age i didn't know that the Brandon Lee was dead yet even at this young age i was in aw at his work. Some actors would have been scared to take this role because of its dark nature, yet he did take it and did a Damn great job. This movie couldn't have been better made if it had been another actor...

Brandon was infact one of the best actors for the crow movies. And I agree with you Night Poet, he in a manner of sorts did become the crow. What I find rather sick though is that no one bothered to tell his mother and fiance until he was dead[least I believe so,either that or till the next morning, I need to research up on this again]But that to the side. He was a damn good actor, and what I find ironic[the bad kind of ironic, not funny ironic] is that he and his father[ Bruce Lee,for those who didnt know] both died at a rather young age.

Brandon's career was just starting to get going really well. Yes, he did a wonderful job in this part. He was a very good actor. I do not think he can be considered "Great", per se. He is great in many people's memories. He never got to prove if he was a great actor or not.
Yes, he died young, and so did his father. Brandon was 28, Bruce was 32. Sadly, Brandon's death could have been prevented. Bruce died due to a "cerebral edema". As far as I know, that was not a preventable occurance.
Yes, he *might* have one day achieved the greatness of his father, or even surpassed it. It is a shame he did not have that chance.
So, IMO:
Yes, he was "the best" in that role. No, he was *not* "Great". He had great potential.

Brandon was the best for the Crow and this is the movie that really increased his fame even through his tragic death. It is true that if Brandon had lived that he wouldn't be as admired now. I guess that since in the movie, when he was supposed to get married he died, and since in real life he was supposed to get maried and died, gave a sense of mystery in his death. Plus that and his father died so young got people thinking if he really died by accident or was deliberatly murdered. So many fans think he is the best as do I because of this trragedy and his death will remain to be the best young, tragic and a mysterious one.

I dont think that there are many people, even Crowfan hardouts that would ever claim that Brandon Lee was the greatest actor to walk the earth, however I will say this: he was going to go far had he not died on the set of The Crow. Prior to The Crow, Brandon really didnt have much to work with in terms of script etc (ie showdown in little Tokyo, Laser Force) BUT when hes given an amazing and emotionally charged script like The Crow the results really speak for themselves. He did an amazing job portraying a man who is emotionally destroyed, his love taken from him, the anger, the hatred, the madness that is The Crow. The movie allowed him to really showcase his acting talent like no other film had allowed him before, he took the role created by O'Barr and ran with it, made it his own, he made The Crow what it is. Im almost certain that he would of been offered some amazing roles after the fact had he not died and he could of only got better. I mean when you watch The Crow you see the results of a collective effort (ie director, music, lighting, sets other actors) but Brandon (of course) is what brings it all together.
It was a depressingly ironic twist of fate that he would die on a film so closely related to death and lost love etc, although I try not to think about it in this way it would be wrong to suggest that Brandons death on the set of the Crow hasnt contributed to whole "crow methos" and helped forge the following the film has. Unfortunately they are now both intrinsicly linked and that cant be changed.

I agree with most of the people here, Brandon was not the best actor, but he was a pretty good actor, at least it would appear that way from his performance as Eric Draven, & it seemed that his career would have improved after The Crow, & he would have gone on to work in other great films. But I am sure he wouldn't have been the best actor ever. Truth is we will never know, & that is sad, but we can't change what happened, in so we shall never really know, for he did too little amount of films, & left this world too early.
P.S. I consider myself NOT a Brandon Lee fan, but all the same the world is worse off now that he is gone.

I think what touches people is not how great an actor Brandon was, but how great an actor he might have become had fate been looking the other way. Potential is much greater fodder for the imagination than actual events. Sometimes I think that if Brandon had lived, Keanu Reeves might never have gotten past Ted "Theodore" Logan (no disrespect to Keanu).

I still and always will think that Brandon is good...though not the greatest. And I would always love The Crow, and not because it is Brandon who's the first crow. I like the story in every Crow movie, that has a big influence on why I like The Crow so much. And Brandon as Eric Draven was like the finishing touch which made The Crow perfect in my opinion...

[B] I think the reason why brandon was and is still so popular is because of partly his father and the tragic way in which he was taken. I have seen a few movies with him in it, and he did have ALOT of talent and was always convincing. He was in RAPID FIRE, KUNG FU - THE MOVIE, SHOWDOWN IN LITTLE TOKYO etc. All those ones i have saw, and i loved them all. I think The Crow is soo touching and popular is because of how these two people who loved each other so much got the wrong end of the stick, so to speak. And also because that Brandon died as The Crow - is what makes the plight of the movie and brandon even more tragic. I think this movie was set to send Brandon to the big time in acting, and i think even if he didnt die - he still would have won some awards for it - but for some reason he unfortunately didnt live to see the fruits of his labour - but ironically his death cemented this movie into cult status.

I've seen every movie that Brandon Lee has been in, and while he was a skilled physical actor, the only movie where he did a good job overall was The Crow. But as I recall, The Crow got pretty bad reviews when it came out, and most of the reason it did as good as it did in the box ofice was all the morbid ******* that only saw it because he died filming it. Now don't get me wrong BTW, The Crow is my favorite movie. I honestly think the only thing that The Crow would have done for Brandon, especially considering the fact that he was already signed on to do two sequels, would have been to typecast him as a gothic hero, or just a gothic character in general.. which wouldn't have done much for his career.

I agree as well with many of you...he was not the BEST actor but he was amazing....his portrayal of The Crow was unbelivable....From seeing all the crow movies no body has seemed to grasp that since of omg this guy just came back from the dead. Some of them have come close....but the way Brandon played it out was just amazing from the digging out of the grave to just the passion he had for this role....it was amazing...I think one of the only other actors I see like him(From interviews) is Johnny Depp...and I think if Brandon lived he could have been there right beside Depp.

personally, i think the brandon lee was a great actor for this role. i have not seen him in anything else, but based on his father's acting, i was impressed. his wealth of depth and feeling in the role was extraordinary and it brought life to the character which not many others would have been able to do.

Actually I think that the people who dubbed Brandon as the best actor ever, where just opinionating. Don't get me wrong, Brandon is an amazing actor. However, there are some actors out there who most likely deserve the title of "Best Actor". Brandon was an amazing actor and if he was still here I'M SURE he would've worked his way to Best Actor EVER. If you look at Brandons personality, he's one of the types that never give up until they reach there goal. So I'm almost positive Brandon would've gotten that title, he's worked hard. And I miss him, greatly. I wish such an accident in "The Crow" wouldn't have caused such a death that was un necessary...

I'm going to disagree with a lot of you. Was he a GREAT actor? No, not even close, he was pretty bad. Great actors make a bad script great, Brandon didn't have that ability. his movies before The Crow were trashy, B movie embarrassments. But then he was handed The Crow script, which was great, and did a great job with it.
Now thats not to say that he wasn't going to get better. He had only done three or four movies. Look at GREAT actors, they've done some pretty crappy roles... Hell did anyone actually SEE Cool World with Brad Pitt? -shivers- terrible.

Yes I actually saw it. -shivers- terrible indeed.
I agree Kyle, his previous films were crappy. He was better than Dolph Lundgren, at least, but yeah he could've been better. Maybe he would've gotten better if he'd had the chance to do more films... we'll never know.

Brandon was an up-and-coming star ,to give him the title "Beat actor" would be kinda redundant for the simple fact that we didnt realy get to seee what he could do....u cant judge betweed 3 or 4 movies...he had the potential to become best actor but unfortunatly his life was cut short...guess we will NEVER know..but actually,ya never know..maybe in the next life...

Hello Anna! Welcome to the family! *hug*
Come on down to the Random Thoughts section and get to know the rest of the "regulars". ( Although we do tend to be a bit of an irregular bunch... )
